There are various vehicles that the player can use to navigate the game's expansive map more efficiently. Water and air vehicles additionally improve the player's ability to navigate challenging terrain.
Vehicles have a dark green background when in the player's inventory or storage.
Some vehicles require licences to be unlocked.
- Level 1 is pilot water vehicles
- Level 2 is driving land vehicles
- Level 3 is to pilot flying vehicles
All vehicles need to be placed on the land/water to be used. This creates a map icon in the colour that the vehicle has been painted otherwise it is white (though the white paint appears grey). Vehicles in the inventory also show their colour, with the exception of the wheelbarrow which cannot be painted.

To return a placed vehicle to the inventory, attack it with any weapon. When its hit points run out, it will turn into a green box that can be picked up. This can be done as often as needed, it does not actually harm the vehicle. Once the vehicle is a green box it is not visible on the map.
Animals are also able to damage the vehicle and cause it to turn into a green box. But don't panic, the green box will not despawn either from sleep or exiting the game. Search the area where it was lost to locate it. If however, the player was off island (in the Mine or Island Reef) and returned back home then it is lost and unrecoverable.
Though the Wheelbarrow and Lawn Mower are vehicles they are not able to be ridden by the player.
In addition to these vehicles, the Wheelbarrow can be used for the
"I drive" milestone for travelling distance. This milestone does not include the use of gliders or boogie boards.
The Gliders and Boogie Board are used from the player's inventory. They are a tool, not a vehicle, therefore no map icon when dropped.
