The Island Reef is a new biome released with the Summer Sun Update v 0.8.0 where the player can find unique animals, bugs, resources, and treasures that are sometimes not found elsewhere. It is accessible through the Airport.
Island Reef[]
The map is randomly generated each week. The drop off location is the same each time and corresponds to the airport location on the mainland. There is a dark fog covering the entire map/minimap which the player will have to reveal by moving around. The airship icon will show up on the map which the player can tag for easier navigation back.
The Island Reef is a biome that is almost the complete polar opposite to the Deep Mines. It's an above ground, water dominated biome consisting of vast stretches of coral reefs broken up by small islands.
Due to the vast amount of water present it is advisable to bring some sort of water or air vehicle, as otherwise a player's ability to explore will be greatly limited.
⚠️!!!Warning!!!: At 11pm the area will shake with a rumbling noise indicating that it is getting late in the game. At 12am, or Late, the island reef will rumble again and emit acid rain throughout the entire map constantly dealing 1 damage per 2 seconds to the player. The airship is safe from the acid rain.
Bugs, Fish & Critters that can be found:
- Blue Tiger Butterfly, Common Crow Butterfly, Purple-Winged Mantis - catch with a Bug Net
- Blue Tang, Clown Fish, Humphead Wrasse, Yellow Tang - catch with a Fishing Rod
- Sea Sponge, Seahorse and Triton's Trumpet - catch by hand
Shark Statue[]
Two (2) Shark Statue spawn per map.
Feed the Shark Statue 5 Old Keys to obtain a Treasure Map. Hold to read the treasure map to reveal a red cross on the player's map. Travel to that location to dig up a buried Wooden Chest.
After obtaining 20 Treasure Maps from the Shark Statue at the Island Reef, the statues become a decoration that the player is able to pick up.
Note: 20 uses of one or both statues is the limit for the entire island reef visit per map. After the limit is reached, both shark statues can be picked up and used as decoration.
Rotary Clothesline[]
The Rotary Clothesline has a chance of spawning 1-2 per map. They are found placed in the water, dive down to pick it up.
Shipwrecks[]
There is a chance of a shipwreck spawning 1-3 per map. Breaking the shipwreck with a tool that destroys hardwood (copper axe, iron axe or chainsaw) will spawn in the Alpha Shark. To survive, eat high buff foods prior to breaking the shipwreck, wear a diving helmet and have a weapon.

Coolers[]
The Cooler can be found exclusively in the Island Reef on Sundays, containing some summery goodies.
There may be up to 10 coolers per Island Reef map. They are found scattered randomly on the islands in plain sight, mostly on the sandy beaches. Each cooler contains 5-7 items with 1 paint guaranteed. Gold and Chrome paint are exclusive from Jimmy.
The cooler can be picked up after emptying the items from inside it or use a Hand Trolley to move/relocate the cooler.

The blue wooden chests can be exclusively found in the Island Reef on a Sunday.
Each chest contains 5-7 items with 1 paint guaranteed. Gold and Chrome paint are exclusive from Jimmy.
