Fletch Base Tent Town Hall Band Stand

Bush Lime is my favourite food! I bloody love them!

Fletch is the first NPC the player encounters in the game. She is recruiting for an expedition back to an island she once called home. She is first met in South City, where the player joins the expedition and heads to the island.

Fletch acts as the primary contact for the player in the game. She provides Tasks, Licences and Deeds. As with all other NPCs, she can be befriended by completing daily tasks for her.

Quotes[]

First Meeting[]

  • (To Player) "I'll tell you what, I'm so glad you've decided to accompany me on this adventure, Player. I was starting to think no one in South City was brave enough to join me! When you were the first and only person to respond to my ad, I knew you were the right person for the job!"
  • (To Player) "Wow! Smell that fresh air! I tell you what, it feels good to finally be back on Island."
  • (About the Island) "If I remember correctly, up north you'll find a tropical climate. To the south it can be a bit chilly, but I recall my Dad warned me about the wildlife down there… To the east and west of the island are flat open plains. The ground is nice and flat, so it would be easy to build there. The coasts are a great place for fishing year-round. So if you like throwing a line, it might be worth setting up the Base Tent near the beach. The centre of the island is a desert. It's hot and dry there, and it's full of bugs! But no matter where you decide we should build, being close to the water is always a good idea. So if you want to set up inland anywhere, try to do it close to a river."

Starting Gameplay[]

  • (About South City) "You see, most people back in South City are scared of leaving. There is something about that place that pulls the "spark" out of people... But I'll tell you what, we certainly aren't the first to leave!"
  • (About John) "I'll tell you what, he's a bloody legend! Rumour is that his parents acquired him by trading a set of antique cutlery!"
  • (About her father) "You remind me of my father. He was born right here on Island, you know? He was a true blue Adventurer through and through. He loved doing new things and keeping track of all his milestones in his Adventurer's Journal."
  • (About her father's journal) "That journal means a lot to me. But I think my Dad would be glad someone like you is looking after it. But, I have a challenge for you, Player. I want you to try and beat my Father's milestones. Some of these milestones are going to take a long time to complete, but there is no hurry."
  • (About Licences) "Licences are an old South City idea! I'll tell you what, you didn't need a Licence for anything back when I was growing up! But these days, you need a Licence for everything. Luckily I'm actually an accredited Licence Giver!"
  • (About Island becoming an official settlement) "I've been notified that we will need 5 permanent residents before Island is recognised as an official settlement. Once South City recognises Island as an official settlement, we can build a Town Hall!"

Regular[]

  • (About John's Goods) "Is it just me, or are John's prices seem a bit steep? Sure is nice being able to buy some fruit every once in a while though. Even if it does grow everywhere, it's more convenient."
  • (About Island) "Island has changed a lot, I'll tell you what! But then again, I have too… Player, let's do our best to make Island a great place people want to live!"
  • (About Island) "Although this isn't the Island I remember, it's still amazing to see the changes you've made around here Player.  I think my father would be proud of us!"
  • (About the Donation Box) "I always visit the donation box in the Base Tent Deed when the town is in debt.  Every Dink leads to a better Island!"
  • "I'll tell you what, saving up for all these years, I would have never imagined seeing Island look like this again. While it's not exactly how I remember it, it feels nice knowing that Island is someone's home again. I think my Father would be very proud of what we've done here, Player. But I'll tell you what, I'm very proud of what you've done here!"'

During Afternoon[]

  • "What a bloody beautiful arvo. Don't you think, Player?"
  • "Afternoon, Player!"

During Night[]

  • "I can't see anything in this murk. Is that you, Player?"
  • "Another day coming to an end. I'll tell you what, they go fast at my age!"
  • "Good evening, Player. Don't stay up too late, okay?"

About Items and Tools[]

  • (About Old Gear) "I noticed an Old Gear buried in the dirt the other day… I wonder where it came from?"
  • (About Scarecrow) "If you are having trouble with birds eating your crops, try and craft a Scarecrow. Those things scare me! Imagine how scared the birds must be!"
  • (About Stone Grinder) "Hey, did you know that you can crush stones and rocks in a Stone Grinder? Normal stones can be crushed into Cement and if you crush shiny stones you can find all sorts of stuff. You might even find an opal!"
  • (About Row Boat) "If you have a Row Boat you can go fishing out in the deep ocean! I heard there are some big fish out there! Big fish with big Dinks!"
  • (About Camera) "The Camera was invented in South City you know. But they are somewhat common place these days."
  • "If you want to cut down hard wood trees you are going to need a Copper Axe of better. They don't call it HARD wood for nothing!"
  • "Make sure you water your crops every day. Teh soil will stay wet for a day or so, but if you see the ground is dry give them a sprinkle. If you don't water them, they won't grow."
  • "You should try burning Spinifex Tuft in a campfire. It makes this sticky stuff that is great for crafting items."

About Animals[]

  • (About Bush Devils) "Bush Devil come out in the dark. Bush Devil are nasty. Real nasty! You might try and fight them but I always just run away!"
  • (About Mus) "Mu are quick! They can't fly, but boy they can run!"

About Food[]

About Clothing[]

  • "I can't help notice your [clothing item]. You're looking very smart!"
