The Button Board can be found by breaking Old Barrels, Wheelie Bins or digging up treasure while Metal Detecting.

There may be a chance this item is acquired through the Crab Pot. Results depend on the biome that the crab pot is placed in. 

Since the Anniversary Update 0.7.5, John will pay less for relics.
